An apartment on my second day in a new country

The story

i moved to a new country with no connections, not knowing the language and only 300 bucks in my bank account. i needed to find a place to stay but i had never rented an apartment before. i remember hearing about the concept of a downpayment but i thought that was the stupidest thing i have ever heard and dismissed it from my mind. on my second day in this country i went to a party where i met a landlord who was searching for a tenant. all the people who have applied before me magically cancelled which is insane because it s super hard to find an apt in this city. turns out this landlord also believed down payments are stupid so i didnt have to pay for one. this apt matched all of my criteria perfectly. later on i needed to furnish it and i would just imagine a desired piece of furniture for a few seconds and then days later this piece of furniture would appear on the street with a note that says you can take it. i got most of my furniture like that.
