The story

This is a pretty long post, so I've given markers (background, objective, method and results) if you'd like to skip to certain parts.

BACKGROUND: I am a freshly-graduated university student that is looking for a government job, whose resume is only filled with menial work experience. My city is filled with hundreds of competing graduates my age that have internships and corporate work experience, and so I mistakenly begin my job search with the mindset that I am at a competitive disadvantage.

I have been obsessively applying for graduate jobs since May. And by the time August rolled around, all I had to show for my efforts was several months worth of rejected job applications, and one failed job interview. At this point, I felt disheartened to the point where I would try anything. And that would include putting the law to the test.

OBJECTIVE: The first requirement of my job was that the hiring process had to be EASY. I no longer wanted to fret about writing up an hour-long job application, nor worry about an intimidating job interview that would make me wish I never progressed to that stage. I desired the entire process to be completely free from all hassle and stress.

I also specified that it should be a short-term government job that would both improve my resume, and allow me to save up enough money for me to move to a different city.

METHOD: I started consciously manifesting this in mid-August, and I primarily used affirmations while in a sleepy state. I don't think I ever repeated them right before falling asleep, just when I felt tired enough. I also didn't visualise anything as that would take me out of the sleepy state. I just repeatedly affirmed "I have the perfect job" while feeling as though I had already manifested my desire. Any anxieties that I felt about my job prospects were not taken with me to bed. Even if there were times throughout the day when I felt nervous about this coming to fruition, I always made sure I fell asleep to the feeling of relief.

Once I believed that this was possible, I stopped feeling like I had to be so incessant with my job search. I began to relax, and only looked at job listings whenever I felt inspired to.

At this time I was often met with resistance by my family, who would insist that I'd have to work incredibly hard if I wanted to land this type of job. They'd constantly remind me what the process was like for my siblings (who competed with hundreds of worthy applicants). But I ignored their concerns, and kept the faith that the right job would not only find me, but be handed to me.

RESULTS: Within a week of manifesting, I had found a 'paid internship' that was intended for graduates wanting to enter the government. It was a 12 week contract that would start in November. I was kind of worried, as I didn't know if 12 weeks of work would provide me a good enough safety net for my move, and I didn't like that I'd have to wait several months before I could start. However, I brushed these concerns aside because the job was otherwise perfect for my needs. I began living in the end, even telling my friends about the job and how excited and certain I was to get an offer.

Then came the rejection letter.

I felt disheartened all over again. But after a little while, I pulled myself together and told myself that this was actually a blessing in disguise. That this was merely part of the bridge, and actually signifies that there is an even BETTER job waiting for me. The key thing here is that I genuinely believed that this was true. And because of that, within the same day my inner-state had made a 180 shift from defeatism to excitement.

Then one week later, I found another job offer

This one was another short-term government job. Except that instead of a 12 week paid internship that wouldn't even start until a couple months, it was a six-month job that would begin in two weeks!

The hiring stage was shockingly the most easy process I've ever dealt with. It turns out this government branch desperately needed new workers to help with a very specific duty, to the point where they didn't even have time to undergo the usual job-hiring process. They didn't bother to make me fill out some extensive job application, nor did they even set up an interview. They just had me do this straightward online game and if my results were good enough, they'd hire me. And a week and a half after applying, they offered me the job!

It's interesting to note that this job offer had been posted for a couple months before I had found it, and I somehow never came across it until I began to consciously manifest it (despite incessantly searching for a job just like this since May).

I have now been working with this department for almost three weeks, and so far it has met all of my expectations.

If you had asked me a few months ago, I'd never believe it'd be possible for me to land a government job this easily. Truly, faith and imagination is all you ever need.
